The Commission wants to remove obstacles and cut red tape to increase more growth. "The current reporting obligations place an excessive burden on all companies, regardless of their size or risk," says cep internal market expert Matthias Kullas. Instead of placing companies under the general suspicion of disregarding regulations, controls should be applied where risks exist or misconduct is suspected. According to Kullas, the Commission wants too much at once in its realignment of competition law. It risks getting bogged down between maintaining competition, creating European champions and decarbonising the economy.
