The EU wants to combat disinformation more effectively, particularly via the Internet. This is based on a joint communication from the European Commission and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

The cep welcomes the code of conduct for operators of online platforms. By relying on a voluntary obligation, the Code of Practice for online platform operators balances the interests of the Commission and the technical and economic possibilities of platform operators. However, in the cep's view, the Commission's threat to turn the Code of Practice into law violates the freedom of the media.
